I cannot fathom what the fuck those people were smoking when they decided to make those business decisions in running their restaurants. Why the fuck would you need another crappy Cơm Tấm Đào Viên - Peach Garden? Why would you turn Pho 88 into Mc Crappy D's.
Over the past 2 years nothing but horrible crap has spawned in the Vietnamese food industry in Toronto. Yes bitches, you know its true.
Lets start off with Pho 88. I walk into a nice brand new renovated store which doesn't look like it came out from 1988. But now it looks like its twenty years in the future 2008. Sure it looks nice, contemporary, so much atmosphere you got it coming out the wazoo. Nice uniformed workers in black, meh not bad, but I didn't pay 6 bucks for mother fucking Starbucks atmosphere I paid for grub in my shit factory. If I wanted atmosphere I would have walked down to Queen and found myself a Starbucks.
I ask for a Pho Tai (beef), the waitress goes, "look in the menu and tell me the number". Bitch did you just tell me to look in the fucking menu myself? My god somethings wrong with the world of Vietnamese dining. First off she should know the god damn menu since she works there. Secondly its a Viet restaurant in Chinatown I expect someone to know Vietnamese in there. The moment I told her P01, she goes "Oo0o0o0o0o" like the nooblet she is. Pho 88 at Chinatown is no longer authentic Viet food. I personally find it horrible in service. If you must eat at Pho 88 go to the one in Mississauga that one is good. Waiters who know what they're doing. No crack heads who think they know what Pho is when they really don't.
Now the other hellhole Cơm Tấm Đào Viên - Peach Garden. The first original restaurant must have been one hell of a restaurant if they expected to milk their title. First off I knew something was wrong the moment I entered the restaurant cause it was EMPTY, now I give a fuck if it was a Monday night cause a restaurant should never be empty if its even half decent. Secondly the waitress and waiter must be blind cause they got our orders wrong. Couldn't accept a change in our order and the dumb ass couldn't even blend up a simple drink that Vietnamese people have been drinking for over 50 fucking years. If we wanted coffee we would just go to Timmies. Now can you say cheap? Cause their cups were small as hell. For a 4 dollar drink I expect a little fairness instead of expense saving techniques.
Vietnamese restaurants are clean, pretty, and have some atmosphere. But what was the cost of this upgrade? EVERYTHING THAT MADE IT DECENT IN THE FIRST PLACE: THE FOOD. How dare they give me a weird ass shaped bowl to trick me into thinking I got more food when really you just gave me a smaller portion in a bowl thats made to make it look huge. If I wanted to trick myself I'd just go to IKEA and buy some weird European bowl that some dude named Hans made. It's like they sold their souls to the devil or something. Anyways long story short, I'm sticking with Pho Hung. A REAL VIETNAMESE RESTAURANT.
